Hi there, welcome back.

Something interesting dropped last week that deserves more attention than it got. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, launched a full-fledged learning platform called Anthropic Academy. It offers more than 13 structured courses covering everything from beginner AI use to advanced developer workflows, and it gives you a real, shareable certificate when you finish. The cost is $0.00.

What Is Anthropic Academy

Anthropic Academy is a structured, free online learning platform built to help people use Claude more effectively, whether you are a complete beginner or a developer building production-level tools. The courses are hosted on Skilljar and also accessible through Coursera, meaning you can learn in the environment you are already comfortable with.

The platform is organized into three main learning tracks: AI Fluency, Product Training, and Developer Deep-Dives. Each track is designed for a different audience and skill level, so there is no pressure to work through content that does not apply to you.

The Courses, One by One

Here is a breakdown of what is currently available:

  • Claude 101 - The starting point. Covers everyday tasks with Claude, its core features, and practical applications for anyone getting started.

  • AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations - Teaches structured, safe, and ethical collaboration with AI systems using practical frameworks.

  • AI Fluency for Educators - Focused on improving classroom workflows and integrating AI into teaching responsibly.

  • AI Fluency for Students - Covers academic use cases and how to use AI tools without compromising your own thinking or integrity.

  • AI Fluency for Nonprofits - Designed for mission-driven organizations that want efficiency without losing focus on their goals.

  • Building with the Claude API - A technical, in-depth course for developers covering API integration and working with Anthropic models directly. If you are also looking for free services to build on top of, we covered a solid list of public APIs you can use without spending a cent in a previous issue.

  • Introduction to Model Context Protocol (MCP) - Teaches how to build MCP servers and connect Claude to external tools and services. Advanced modules are also available.

  • Introduction to Agent Skills - Covers how to build reusable AI workflows and automate multi-step tasks.

  • Claude on Amazon Bedrock and Claude on Google Cloud Vertex AI - Cloud-specific integration courses for teams scaling AI in enterprise environments.

That is more than 13 courses in total, and Anthropic appears to still be adding content.

The Certificate and Why It Actually Matters

After completing video modules, exercises, and quizzes for any course, you receive an official digital certificate. You can download it or share it directly to LinkedIn, which has become a practical way to signal your skills when applying for roles or pitching clients.

What makes this meaningful is that not long ago, bootcamps were charging anywhere from $500 to $2,000 to teach earlier, less polished versions of these same topics. Getting this level of structured, certified learning for free from the company that actually built the tool is a different kind of offer.

Who This Is Actually For

This is not just for developers. Three of the tracks are specifically built for non-technical users: educators, students and nonprofit workers. If you work in content, operations, marketing, or any role where you handle information, there is a real skill to be built here and Claude 101 is a practical first step.

For builders and developers, the API and MCP courses are genuinely useful. Pair them with solid prompting habits and you will move faster in production. We covered how to write prompts for real debugging and testing workflows in an earlier issue - the principles carry across models.

How to Get Started

No paid Claude subscription is required to enroll or complete any of the courses. The process is straightforward:

  1. Create a free Skilljar account using just your email

  2. Browse the course catalogue and pick your track

  3. Start at your own pace, no deadlines

Alternatively, some courses are accessible through Coursera if you prefer that platform.

If you want to go deeper after finishing a course, one practical exercise is turning the lessons into a visual reference. We walked through how to convert video content into infographics using NotebookLM, worth revisiting once you have completed a module or two.

P.S. If you only do one thing after reading this, go enroll. The course takes a couple of hours. The certificate lives on your LinkedIn forever.
